The mission of The Holy Mackerels is to contribute substantially to worldwide achievement of the "culture of dialogue, listening, and mutual respect" envisioned by Pope Francis and expounded within our Statement of Vision.
The contribution of the Holy Mackerels to such achievement will be through a cooperative network of independent local organizations -- "clubs" -- each dedicated to the instruction and development of its own members within a Roman Catholic Faith environment in the art, science, techniques, and attitude of responsible and effective communication, in settings and situations ranging from small and personal to colossal and public.
Mission accomplishment will be through continued development of model clubs, facilitating transfer of the models to subsequent clubs in unlimited localities, and creating and maintaining a central network of mutual coordination and information sharing among them. To the degree possible and locally practical, such clubs will follow the structure and procedural format of the secular organization, Toastmasters International, and likely be formally charterd within that organization.
To become and remain entitled to identify and operate as a "Toastmasters Club," each local organization is required to agree and conform to the rules of Toastmasters International, Incorporated. To become and remain entitled to identify and operate as a "Holy Mackerels Club," each local organization is required to concur with the here-invoked Vision of The Holy Mackerels, adopt its own local mission within the context of this current mission statement, and proclaim its purpose consistent with the following:
The purpose of The Holy Mackerels is to provide Catholic faithful with training and support in communications skill development, to enable our articulate proclamation and defense of the Faith, and to facilitate productive discussion within our own faith and with our brothers and sisters throughout the entire human family.
The mission of The Holy Mackerels is to further develop resources and techniques for the coordination and sharing of ideas and methods among such clubs as they form themselves in the service of their own dioceses.
